Belgian artists Michaël Borremans and David Claerbout at Galerie Rudolfinum

12. 02. 2020

With his innovative approach to painting, the Belgian artist Michaël Borremans (born 1963) has attained a position of distinction on the international scene. His canvases address universal themes that resonate with a specifically contemporary nuance and his oeuvre is characterised by a strong, unsettlingly psychological aspect.

With thirty pieces on display, The Duck presents a cross-section of Borremans’ painting practice as well as video installations. For the very first time, the artist will also exhibit three of his latest paintings made in Autumn 2019 specifically for Galerie Rudolfinum in Prague.

David Claerbout (born 1969) ranks among the most distinctive figures of contemporary international video art. With the aid of video and digital photography, his artistic practice in particular investigates the conceptual effects of the flow of time. He also makes use of videogame technologies, as in the case of his 2016 video projection Olympia (The Real-Time Disintegration into Ruins of the Berlin Olympic Stadium over the Course of a Thousand Years) that will be on view at Galerie Rudolfinum in Prague until 12 April 2020.
