Call for applicants: Czech Literary Centre spring 2018 residencies

04. 10. 2017

The Czech Literary Centre, a section of the Moravian Library, announces its spring 2018 (March–June) residencies for translators of Czech, foreign Czech studies specialists and for foreign authors. The event is going to be held in Prague and Brno.

Foreign translators of Czech, Czech studies specialists and literary scholars with an interest in Czech culture can apply for 2, 3 or 4-week study and creative residencies in Prague or Brno (in Brno, residents will have unlimited access to the resources of the Moravian Library). The residencies are not limited by age or target language of the translations. The aim of the residency is to give the resident time to create and research, meet with the author they are translating and get to know the Czech literary and cultural scene. The resident should be willing to take part in the local literary life (taking part in events held or arranged by the organiser). During the residency, the resident should work on a translation or research project.

The center also offers an one month-long residency in Prague and one month-long residency in Brno for foreign authors with an interest in Czech literature and culture is to participate. The aim of the residencies is to give the resident time to create, get to know the Czech literary and cultural scene and support multicultural dialogue in literature. The resident should therefore be willing to take part in events held or arranged by the organiser.
