Villa Tugendhat is the most known villa in Czech Republic. The UNESCO monument of the 20th century embodies the turbulent history and tragic fate of the Czech Jewish elite. Dieter Reifart's documentary film captures its architectural and historical uniqueness.

The most well-known villa in Brno city built in functionalism style between 1929-1930 for Tugendhat spouses is one of the most outstanding work of architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and the basic pats of the world´s modern architecture. The tour-tickets use to be sold many months in advance. Director Dieter Reifarth got really captivated, so he decided to make a document about it. Film will be projected on February the 18th 2018 in BOZAR. The premier was on Film festival of architecture in Rotterdam in 2013.

Through the series of narratives, the film portrays the whole story of the house and its inhabitants. They decided to leave Czech Republic in 1938 out of fear of the German expansion. Villa got shortly occupied by German and subsequently Red army. Extensively damaged building was first renovated in 80´s. Since the end of WWII it served more purposes. After the last reconstruction it is open to public. Since 2001, Villa Tugendhat is the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site.
