Christmas Concert 2016

H. E. Jaroslav Kurfürst, Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Belgium, Lucie Čadilová, Director of the Delegation of Prague to the EU, and Kristina Prunerová, director of the Czech Centre Brussels, invite you to traditional Christmas Concert. This year two phenomenal Czech musicians will bring the Christmas atmosphere to the Notre-Dame au Sablon - Martina Kociánová (mezzo-soprano) will be accompanied by Kateřina Englichová on harp. Concert will be held on 13th December 2016 at 8PM.

On 13th December 2016, the audience in Brussels will have a chance to experience a concert of two amazing musicians and their interpretations of classical music. The atmosphere of concert will be highlighted by the Church Notre-Dame du Sablon, which is a pearl of the Gothic style, and has already hosted the Czech Christmas Concert for several years.

Due to his illness Štefan Margita will not be able to perform during the Christmas Concert. However, the organizers are excited to announce the presence of Martina Kociánová, phenomenal Czech mezzo-soprano.

Kateřina Englichová (* 1969)

One of the most sought after Czech harpists of her generation, Kateřina Englichová performs all over Europe, North America, Japan, Hong Kong and New Zealand. In 1998, she made her debut in Weill Recital Hall in New York and with the Czech Philharmonic in 2008. She has collaborated with artists such as Mstislav Rostropovitch, Josef Suk, Gerard Causee, Cynthia Phelps, Michel Lethiec or Eugenia Zukerman. She has performed at numerous international festivals such as Rencontres Musicales d’Evian and Festival d’Ile de France, and in the Czech Republic at Prague Spring, Prague Autumn, Festival Bohuslava Martinů and many others. Martina Kociánová (*1971)

During her university studies, Martina pursued her career of a TV editor and news presenter in the Ostrava TV Center of the Czech Television. Since March 2008, Martina is active as a news presenter in Z1 – a digital television station. Along with her TV career, Martina has been intensively devoting herself to opera singing and as a soloist, she regularly guests in opera theatres in the Czech Republic. She also performs concerts in the country and abroad and cooperates with a number of musicians and orchestras, for example with the North-Bohemian Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonic Orchestra of Hradec Králové, Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra in Ostrava or Wihan Quartet. She guests in the State Opera and the Musical Theatre in Prague, in South-Bohemian Theatre in Budweis (České Budějovice), in the City Theatre in Carlsbad and also regularly guests in the F. X. Salda Theatre in Liberec. She regularly performs with Amadeus Trio and is a member of the Lyrico Trio. In 2002, Martina has been awarded Gustav Mahler Prize by the European Union of the Arts.
