Artist in Residence 2015

Eliška Perglerová stays at Czech centre Brussels for two weeks this November. The artist in residence program is coorganized by Czech Centre Brussels, Institute of Arts, Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic and the Embassy of Czech Republic in Belgium. The two weeks residence from 11 to 26 November will result in the exhibition that will be opened on 25 November at 19h and will present the objects created during Eliška Perglerová’s visit to Brussels as well as the creative process itself.

Eliška Perglerová (*1987)  graduated from Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (AVU) and has won the 2012 Essl Art Award. She focuses mainly on the creation of objects that reflect experience shared across the society. One of her works, the interactive installation “Public nudity” (Nahota na veřejnosti), allow the participants to relive their nightmares of being naked in public place, as for “Ochlophoby”, Perglerová wants to reflect the experience of public means of transport packed with people.

Her project in Brussels focuses on the stress and its visualisation. She is comparing “the good stress” / eustress, which helps individuals to achieve bigger goals, and the “bad stress” / distress that is obviously harmful for both physical and mental health.

The outcome of the residence will be models of the stress made from copper wire, which can be both made during the workshop and seen at the exhibit opening at the Czech centre gallery on 25 November 2015 at 19h. For those who participated, their own models of stress can be taken home after the opening of the exhibit.
