Radka Denemarková – Author’s reading at ULB

International conference to be held from 5th to 7th October will welcome Czech writer and translator Radka Denemarková. She will present a piece of her work to the audience at ULB - Université Libre de Bruxelles and so contribute to the subject of the conference, which is the Imaginations and Interrelations in Czech and German-Speaking Literature and Culture.

Czech author of the well know and translated book Money from Hitler will read couple of extracts from her work within the international conference at the ULB. This conference aims to present the Czech, German and Austrian pieces of literature about the historical events which made them interconnected and to picture them from different angles. These intertwined, oppositional points of view, unilateral and mutual influences, will be examined both in the scholarly presentations and in the cultural events framing the conference such as reading of Mrs Denemarková, one of the most widely translated contemporary Czech authors who has been awarded the Magnesia Litera three times or a day earlier, an evening with Czechoslovak born, Austria living author Michael Stavarič.

The conference is organized by the Centre of Czech Studies at ULB and Germanic studies at ULB with the support of the Embassy of the Czech Republic to the Belgium, Czech Centre Brussels and the Austrian cultural forum in Brussels.
