Focus on Czech Games in Charleroi

Meet & Build 2019 will focus on the current success of Czech videogames

The Czech Republic is the guest country at the Meet & Build festival (23 November) in Charleroi. It will feature representatives of the best Czech game studios, a demoroom of Czech games and B2B opportunities. The event will be complemented by a Friday expert program in the European institutions.

The current success of Czech videogames is a phenomenon drawing attention around the world. This year’s edition of Meet & Build – the primary opportunity for videogames lovers to get together – will focus on the reasons. This year, the festival is presenting a guest of honor for the first time – the Czech Republic.

The program features 6 Czech speakers and will be launched by Michaela Dvořák from Beat Games, the author studio of the hyper successful VR game Beat Saber. Representatives of Bohemia Interactive, Hagar 13 and Amanita Design will talk too; and the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of the Charles University will present its serious games, including Attentat 1942. There will be also a round table dealing with institutional support of gaming industry, joined by the South Moravian Innovation Center and its International counteparts.

The Czech delegation will also have the access to the B2B zone where it can meet Belgian developers, educational institutions, and partners from various associations.

An important part of the festival is a demo room, created in cooperation with GameDev Area from Brno, the Czech Republic. The audience can enjoy 10 iconic Czech games, including the cute Chuchel by Amanita Design, Euro Truck Simulator 2, and the light swords in the VR game Beat Saber.

On Friday, thanks to the cooperation with CEBRE and Renew Europe (MEP Martina Dlabajová) a program in the European parliament will provide the Czech delegation with the opportunity to discuss the issues of regulation and financing of gaming.
