Manneken Pis dresses up Emil Zátopek’s tracksuit

The Manneken Pis Corrida charity cross-city race will be held this year for the tenth time! And you know what? The bronze statuette of Manneken Pis will dress up Emil Zátopek’s tracksuit. The dressing ceremony will take place on 26 December in the morning and runners will start at 8:15pm from the Spanish Square in Brussels.

The traditional race is organized by the Belgian magazine Zatopek, which was founded in 2007 in honor of the legendary Czech runner and its name was consecrated by Mrs Dana Zátopková herself. Zátopek is known as a legend of running and in the Belgian context mainly in connection with the famous race where he outran the leading Belgian athlete Gaston Reiff. Manneken-Pis will wear a dress inspired by Zátopek’s legendary Helsinki (1952) run.

Every year, three thousand runners participate in the charity event. They can choose either a little corrida (4 km) or a big corrida (8 km). The route leads around Brussels most famous sites, including the Grande-Place, the Stock Exchange and the Manneken Pis statue.
