Lukáš Vondráček and the Belgian National Orchestra in BOZAR

After his last year’s tremendous success at the Queen Elizabeth Competition, Lukáš Vondráček is invited to perform in Belgium on a regular basis. This time, under the baton of Marin Alsop, American conductor, whom he’d met during the above mentioned competition one year ago. Program composed by works by Romantic classics such as Rachmaninoff and Brahms but also contemporary authors will enchant audience at the spectacular Henry Le Boeuf Hall, BOZAR.

The program of the concert is intriguing by its mix of contemporary and rather “old” masters. First composition by a 37 years old British Anna Clyne is somehow taking on a traditional Masquerade pieces by her ancestors, whether John Adams conceived the “Lola Montez does the Spider Dance“ especially for Marin Alsop. This piece is absolutely captivating by its back story – Lola Montez was an English dancer, who lived (and died at the age of 40) in 19th century and made a career as a dancer under a Spanish pseudonym while dancing with real tarantulas.

Born in Opava, Czech Republic, in 1986, Lukáš Vondráček's musical ability was spotted at the age of two by his parents, both professional pianists. He gave his first concert at the age of four and by now, he has visited 27 different countries giving in excess of 1000 concerts. During his first international tour at the age of 10, he performed at various festivals in the UK and the USA. In the intervening years he gave many recital and concert performances throughout his home country as well as abroad.  In 2001, Lukáš Vondráček was awarded the Hanno R. Ellenbogen Award for the most exceptional young artist in Europe.  In 2010, he won First Prize at the 10th Hilton Head International Piano Competition in South Carolina, USA. In 2016, Lukáš won the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Competition in Belgium and won himself a large base of fans from all over Belgium.
