The exhibition about twelve monuments in the Czech Republic that are on the UNESCO World Heritage List is organised to commemorate last year’s 70th anniversary of UNESCO. The exhibition will be opened by MEP Michaela Šojdrová and the Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Belgium H.E. Jaroslav Kurfürst on 16th February 2016. The opening evening will be held at the Permanent representation of the Czech Republic to the EU from 7pm and will be followed by a reception. Registration required before 12th February at pavelkova@czech.cz

The United Nations Organization for Education, Science and Culture (UNESCO) was founded in 1945 and until now it has undoubtedly contributed to the development and protection not only of education, but also natural science, arts, culture or information. The Czech Republic ratified the Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage in 1993 and until today, 12 places (cities, towns or single monuments) are on the World Heritage List as well as 4 occurrences on the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The exhibition “UNESCO Czech Heritage” aims to present those 12 places. They contribute to the unique cultural richness of the Czech Republic by their architectonic, historical or cultural value. The exhibition will introduce well-known touristic destinations as Prague, Brno or Český Krumlov, but also small hidden places such as the town of Holašovice, historical city centre of Kutná Hora or charming town Žďár nad Sázavou.

Exhibition is organized by: Czech Centre Brussels, Embassy of the Czech Republic to the Kingdom of Belgium, the Representation of the South Moravian Region, the Representation of the Vysočina region, the Representation of the South-Bohemia region, the Representation of the Pilsen region, the Representation of the Olomouc region to the European Union, Permanent Representation of the Czech Republic and CzechTourism.
